Run by licensed and experienced Florence veterinarians, our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is committed to educating our clients on how to keep your pets healthy year round through annual wellness visits, good nutrition and exercise. Our team stays current on the latest advances in veterinary technology and, above all, remembers that all animals and pets need to be treated with loving care in every check-up, procedure, or surgery.

Dr. Charles Hewitt

Veterinarian

Dr., Charles “Chuck” was born and raised in Florence, SC, and after attending Tuskegee University school, returned back to his hometown to open his practice with his wife Sylvia.  When he is not treating animals, you can find him fishing on a boat or driving his tractor.  Dr. Charles owns an English lab yellow lab, Remi; a mixed breed rescue, Wilson.  He has a soft spot for puppies, but his favorite aspect of the job is being able to see the animals grown up and know them throughout their lives.

Dr. Sylvia Hewitt

Veterinarian

Dr. Sylvia is originally from Venezuela.  After moving to the United States, she attended Louisiana State University for her undergraduate education then to Tuskegee University for Veterinary school.  She then settled in Florence, SC to start a family and to open Westside Veterinary Clinic with her husband Chuck. After a busy day at the office Dr. Sylvia enjoys going on walks and working in the yard.  She loves her English lab, Remi and her mixed breed rescue, Wilson.  Her favorite aspects of being a veterinarian are being able to work up her medical cases along with maintaining quality of life for her patients.

Dr. Marita Anderson

Veterinarian

Dr. Marita is originally from New Jersey and attended the University of Georgia for veterinary school.  She is our exotic pet expert here.  In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, traveling, skiing, dancing, or going out for a drive.  She is also a doting grandmother.  Dr. Anderson is the owner of French bulldogs that are hilarious, cuddly, and playful.  Kevla, Berreta, and Dahlia are her sweet, loyal, and intelligent large breed dogs.  Doodle is the troublemaker.  Dr. Anderson favorite aspect of being a vet are the animals, the people, and being able to make a positive impact on their lives.

Dr. Samantha Camlin

Veterinarian

Dr. Samantha was born and raised in Florence, South Carolina. She moved to Tennessee where she earned a master’s degree in veterinary biomedical science from Lincoln Memorial University before completing veterinary school. In her free time, Dr. Samantha enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with her husband and five dogs Carlie, Zoey, Petey, Bruce, and Abby. Her favorite aspect of being a new veterinarian is helping the people of her hometown care for their animals. 

Fun Fact: Dr. Samantha loves spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Amanda

Veterinary Technician Liason

Amanda is from Timmonsville, SC.  She has sweet twin boys that occupy most of her time and a german shepherd, Sky that helps keep her busy as well.  She has been with us since 2018 starting out as a receptionist for two years then became a veterinary technician and has since found her passion.  Her favorite part of her job is assisting in surgeries and emergencies.  When Amanda isn’t at work, she is spending time with her family and friends, fishing, or just enjoying being outside.

Lisa

Kennel Technician

Lisa is from Darlington, SC though now resides in Hartsville, SC.  She loves to sing, dance, and play online games.  Helping others and keeping everything nice and tidy is very important to her.  Lisa loves her three cats; Tempie, a grey 12-year-old; Peanut, a black 6 year old; and Boots, an orange and white 3 year old.  Her favorite part of her job is spending time with all the clients and patients.  Lisa has been with us since 2019 and loves making people laugh.

Celeste

Office Manager

Celeste is from Florence, SC and been with us since 2018 starting out as a receptionist for three years.  Her favorite thing about working at Westside is the interaction with the clients and the patients, as well as having a passion for leading a team that values excellent customer service.  She is a proud owner of a mixed breed rescue, Talia.  Her pup loves to tag along on car rides, play fetch, and gets plenty of belly rubs.  Celeste often says that Talia was the one that rescued her.  When she isn’t at the office, she stays busy pet sitting, traveling, decorating, and working in the yard. 

Ashley

Receptionist

Ashley is from Darlington, SC and has been working as a receptionist since 2022.  She has one fur child named Chloe that keeps her on her toes.  Her favorite part of the job is meeting new animals.  When Ashley isn’t working, she spends her time hunting or catching up on sleep.

Elizabeth

Veterinary Technician

Elizabeth is originally from Sumter, SC and is now a Darlington, SC resident.  She has been a veterinary technician for six years and with us since 2021.  Elizabeth is currently working towards her registered veterinary technician license.  When she is not at the office, she is spending time with her fur baby Sierra, a husky mix, traveling, being with family or binge-watching Netflix.  Her favorite part of her job is helping in surgery and learning more about exotics. 

Kathryn

Veterinary Technician

Kathryn is from Marion, SC and has been a veterinary technician for three years and has been with us since 2022.  Her favorite part about being a veterinary technician is seeing pups for their first visit and watching them grow.  When Kathryn isn’t at the office, she enjoys spending time with her son, and going to the lake or the beach.  She has four fur children that take up her time as well.  Sophia is an aussie mix; Duke a husky; Baby a lab and Bubba a horse.

Kim

Veterinary Technician

Kim is from Marion, SC and has been a veterinary technician for three years.  She has been with us since 2022.  For her the best part of her day is when she helps a patient in urgent need.  She also enjoys seeing the young patients grow and loves to help with radiographs. She has a sweet boykin spaniel named Teal and a beautiful horse named Vegas.  In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, going to the beach, and helping rescues. 

Kortnie

Veterinary Technician

Kortnie has been a veterinary technician for 8 years now.  She has been with us for two months.  She has three dogs, Finley, Maverick, and Mable that keep her busy.  When she is not at Westside, she is running her own boutique, The Lunar Company.

Lyndsi

Receptionist

Lyndsi has been with us since 2021 and her favorite part of working in the clinic is all the diverse patients we see.  She is a mom of two children, Addison and Jaxtyn, and four fur babies: Tehya, Dakota, Thor, and Fred.  She enjoys horseback riding, hunting, and taking her kids on adventures during her free time.

Cheryl

Receptionist

Cheryl started with us in November of 2022.  She is a mother of 2 boys and 1 fur baby, Midnight.  She enjoys watching her kids play football, taking walks and being outdoors.  Her favorite thing about Westside is meeting all the patients and watching them grow.

Brianna

Receptionist

Brianna has been with us since September of 2022.  She has 1 fur baby, Koda.  She is from Darlington, SC.  Her favorite thing about her job is seeing all the animals.  Her hobbies include listening to music, cleaning, going to the lake or the beach.
